Heavy Equipment Operation Program Instructor
(CIP Code 49.0202 – Construction/Heavy Equipment/ Earthmoving Equipment Operation)

The Erie County Technical School is seeking a highly skilled professional for the School’s Career & Technical Education (CTE) Heavy Equipment Operation Program. This new full-time teaching position will begin in the 2025-2026 school year with an ideal start date in March of 2026 (note, students will start in the new program in August 2026).

The deadline for this posting is February 1st, however resumes will continue to be accepted until suitable candidates are found.  The starting salary range is roughly $45,000 to $55,000 depending on industry experience, teaching experience, and/or level of education.  You must have or be willing to obtain Act 34, Act 114, and Act 151 Clearances.  The successful candidate must be willing to earn a Career and Technical Instructional II teaching certificate and pass an Occupational Competency Assessment as required by PDE.

Position Description:

The Heavy Equipment Operation Instructor is responsible for developing and implementing an instructional program that prepares individuals to apply technical knowledge and skills to operate and maintain a variety of heavy equipment. Instructional topics include safety & work site communication, surveying & GPS use, hoists & jacks, and basic rigging & excavation techniques, all related to the construction industry with cross over to agriculture, manufacturing, and transportation industries.

Position Requirements:

Candidates who meet one of the following two criteria are encouraged to apply:

  • Possess a PDE Vocational Teaching certification in Heay Equipment Construction-Operation (2596), or related field(s) (CIP code 49.0202).

-OR-

  • Have a minimum of 4-years documented wage earning experience in Heavy Equipment Operation/Repair a requirement per Pennsylvania Department of Education (PDE) regulations for employment & certification.

Other Items to Note:

  • Experience working with high school students and teaching in a CTE environment are preferred.
  • Interested candidates are highly encouraged to review Pennsylvania’s Occupational Assessment Competency Manual to review the education and certification requirements necessary for this position.

Health Assistant Program Instructor
(CIP Code – 51.0899 Allied Health and Medical Assisting Services, Other)

The starting salary range is roughly $45,000 to $55,000 based on industry experience, teaching experience, and/or level of education.  You must have or be willing to obtain Act 34, Act 114, and Act 151 Clearances.  The successful candidate must be willing to earn a Career and Technical Instructional II teaching certificate and pass an Occupational Competency Assessment as required by PDE.

Position Description:

The Health Assistant Instructor is responsible for developing and implementing an instructional program focusing on preparing students for entry-level employment in the health occupations and will support the Pennsylvania Occupational Standards (POS) for CIP Code 51.0899. Instruction consists of core course content with clinical experiences in health-related occupations.  Instruction includes but is not limited to basic anatomy and physiology, medical terminology, legal and ethical aspects of health care and communication.

Position Requirements:

Candidates who have a current license as a certified health care professional (RN, LPN, or any other field that requires the minimum of a bachelor’s degree) and meet one the following criteria are encouraged to apply:

1.     Have a minimum of 4 years of wage-earning industry experience in their field of practice with a willingness to obtain the Vocational Certification in Education.

2.     Possess a Career and Technical Instructional II Teaching certification in Health Assistant CIP Code 51.0899.

Advanced Summer Cosmetology Program Instructor

The Erie County Technical School will accept applications for the following temporary part-time professional position to begin June 9, 2025. Please refer to the position details below. The program will run from June 9, 2025, to July 24, 2025, Monday through Thursday, 8:00am to 3:00pm for a total of 6 weeks of 26 hours a week (156 hours). You must have or be willing to obtain Act 34, Act 114, and Act 151 Clearances.

Instructional Aide – SAA2

Position Description:

Instructional aides support the teachers and students in the teaching and learning of Career and Technical Skills in the 20 programs offered at Erie County Technical School. 

Position Requirements:

High School Diploma required; Paraprofessional Certification preferred (training provided by ECTS if needed). 

Instructional Aides will do the following:

  1. Assist teachers and students with assignments and projects as directed by the teacher and administration.
  2. Learn the challenges faced by students who have special needs and make accommodations and modifications to support their success.
  3. Continuously motivate and encourage students.
  4. Build relationships with students, staff, families, and community partners.
  5. Work with students individually and in small groups to learn content, build skills, and complete tasks.
  6. Provide for the best care, safety, welfare, and security of the students in our care.

This position is contracted for 25 hours per week at $19.56 per hour (less .25 during 120 day probationary period per the contract). You must have or be willing to obtain Act 34, Act 114, Act 151 Clearances, complete required trainings for Act 126 (mandatory reporting), and process disclosures for Act 168 and Act 24.
