Course
Description:
Students
in this program learn the fundamentals of electrical skills and theory.
The Electrical Engineering Technologies students acquire the skills for
employment in all industrial electric occupations.
The students learn in detail the theory and hands-on application of
alternating current, direct current, hydraulics, pneumatics, motor controls,
programmable logic controllers and residential wiring.
Using
a variety of hand tools and electrical testing equipment, the students learn how
to wire a variety of industrial-rated components (relays, motor starters,
motors, transformers, timing relays, push buttons, selector switches) and all
components used in residential wiring applications.
In addition, the students receive instruction in reading residential
wiring schematics, motor control schematics, programmable logic controller
schematics and hydraulic or pneumatic schematics.
Prospective
students should possess mechanical aptitude, ability in basic math and manual
dexterity.
